Website of the day

No amount of being online can conceal the fact that an online photo album is really just a photo album. Give your precious memories the MTV treatment, with Animoto.

San Francisco-HQ'd and founded by two music/entertainment vets, Animoto uses "patent-pending cinematic A.I. technology" to create widescreen slideshow videos set to your choice of music (but if it's Green Day's "Time of Your Life" may God have mercy on your soul and help you get into a good college). Just choose the shots you want animated, highlight the ones of greatest importance, and select your song; you can upload any MP3, or pick from Animoto's library of "up and comers" -- because what better soundtrack for your niece's birth than Dirty Children's Beautiful Freak?

Once you're done, Animoto's virtual-editor algorithm analyzes your tune's genre, rhythm, vocals, and structure to best sequence your pics and apply effects like fade in/out, jitteriness, and image-splitting, for when you tell two friends, and then they tell two friends...

It's free to create as many 30-second clips as you want (you're emailed a link to the montage as soon as it's rendered), or drop $3 for longer vids. A year of unlimited use is $30-- ample opportunity to learn that no amount of patent-pending cinematic A.I. technology will prevent people from becoming wildly sick of your face.

Website of the day

You know those motivational posters? The ones featuring soaring eagles and fearless rock climbers? They work great for tricking your bosses into thinking you try hard, but what does Skymall know about what actually fires up your spirit? Then there's those funny "Demotivational" posters...the ones that mock the traditional motivational posters.
Well now you can create your own poster...funny or serious, it's totally up to you. You can even pick your own picture from your computer, or use one of theirs. Now let's just hope you're creative enough to make something that doesn't suck so bad, I have to get you a motivational poster to make you feel better.
