Day 6, Leaving the Grand Canyon
Left the Grand Canyon after sunset in an attempt to find a hotel for the night. I drove to Williams, AZ where my Rt.66 map told me there was a cool place to stay. Well, I got to Williams, and the hotel was closed for 2 days for some reason. It wouldve been really cool to stay there, though. It was called the "Red Garter Inn and Bakery". it was a hotel and a bakery, that was transformed from a brothel and tavern back in the day. So I looked for another place to stay, but holy shit, this town is SCARY. Williams, AZ is the exact town that you would get stuck in in the Twilight Zone...the place that you'd have to go to the same diner every day for the rest of your life, playing the same song in the jukebox and ordering the same food. Man it was creepe, especially since it was at night. I drove down the street behind a 17 year old Dodge Ram pickup with 2 coonhounds in the back, ugh. I turned around to leave, and kept waiting to run into an invisible barrier that would wreck my car, where upon it would be towed to a toothless mechanic that would tell me they could never fix my kind of car, cuz they've never seen anything with a radio in it before, and I'd never be able to leave. The more I thought about it, the fast I drove out of town. I made my way to Kingsman, AZ after another 45 minutes of driving to watch Monday Night Football at a nice Quality Inn Suites. Yay, civilization. And it just so happened that McNabb threw 3 TD's to T.O that night...GO my awesome fantasy team, GO!

That sounds kind of like the town in Wild at Heart (a crazy David Lynch movie). If that were the case though, the brothel would be filled with assassins, and there'd be a fat chick porno being filmed in the run down motel. David Lynch makes weird movies.
